Your Responsibilities
- Writing a relevant dissertation in the field of microbiology
- Participate in research on host-microbe interactions and nutritional immunity using the Drosophila model in the research group of Dr. Igor Iatsenko
- Collaboration with established research groups and “Core Facilities” at the Institute of Molecular Biosciences
- Participation in teaching in the areas of molecular biology and microbiology, as well as co-supervision of students
- Cooperation on organisational and administrative tasks as well as evaluation measures
Your Profile
- Completed Master’s degree in microbiology, molecular biology, infection biology or related field
- Eligible as a graduate student at the University of Graz (Austria)': https://doctorate.uni-graz.at/en/study-service/admission/
- Knowledge and strong interest in host–microbe interactions, microbial ecology, microbiome biology, infection biology, or nutritional immunity
- Experience with experimental design, quantitative data analysis, and statistical evaluation
- Practical experience with microbiology and molecular biology methods, particularly bacterial culture and molecular characterization
- Experience in using the model organism Drosophila melanogaster (desirable)
- Experience in the analysis of microbiome composition and gene expression data (desirable)
- Knowledge of nutritional immunity, metal limitation, or microbial metal acquisition (desirable)
- Strong scientific communication skills and proficiency in written and spoken English
- Independent, reliable, and self-responsible working style

We offer an annual gross salary of at least € 52.865,40 for a fulltime position. An overpayment based on qualification and experience is possible.
