Researchers who have
already walked the path
Every mentor is a researcher or professional in your field — not a consultant. People who made this journey, now guiding you through it.
Meet your mentors
Each student is matched with a mentor in their exact research field. Here are the researchers currently mentoring ESC students.
Founded by researchers, for researchers
President, DAAD IndiAlumni Netzwerk e.V.
Former DAAD Young Ambassador
Guest Scientist, LMU Munich
PhD Biochemistry, LMU
IIT Bombay · Univ. of Delhi
ESC began in 2024 over a Christmas dinner in Munich, Germany — a group of friends talking about how hard it still was for talented science students to land funded PhDs and Masters abroad. Our founder, Dr. Deepak Kumar Malik, was a DAAD Young Ambassador at the time, informally helping students navigate PhD admissions. That dinner conversation turned into a simple decision: this deserved to be something more formal. Today he is also the elected President of DAAD IndiAlumni Netzwerk e.V., the association of DAAD alumni linking India and Germany. See his profile on the IndiAlumni board →
The idea was born from a simple observation: brilliant science students from South Asia were failing to land funded positions abroad — not because of a lack of ability, but because nobody showed them how the system actually works. Most available advice came from consultants and agencies with no first-hand research experience.
ESC was built to fill that gap. Every mentor has made this journey themselves — PhDs, postdocs, researchers and professionals — matched to your field. We don't outsource. We don't do copy-paste letters. We don't use AI. We guide you the way a senior colleague would: honestly, scientifically, and until you succeed. We're not a corporation — just a small group of researchers who decided students deserved better.
Ambition to Admission.
Dr. Malik holds this role in a personal, voluntary capacity. ESC is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the DAAD or IndiAlumni.
"The best guide for your academic journey is someone who has already walked it."
