Introduction to Zhengzhou University

Introduction to School of Life Sciences
The School of Life Sciences at Zhengzhou University was established in March 2001. Formerly known as the Department of Bioengineering, it adopted its current name in May 2013, and currently has four undergraduate programs, namely Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Bioinformatics, and Plant Science and Technology. It also houses one comprehensive experimental center and five research institutes. There is a postdoctoral research station in biology, a first-level doctoral degree authorization point in biology, a first-level master's degree authorization point in biology, and a professional master's degree authorization point in biology and medicine. Several disciplines supported by the School, including Biology and Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Microbiology, Agricultural Sciences, and Plant and Animal Science, rank among the top 1% worldwide according to ESI.
Recruitment Positions and Support Policies
(I) Distinguished Professors
Positions include Chief Discipline Professor, Discipline Leader, Discipline Backbone, and Outstanding Talent.
General Requirements:
- No criminal record;
- Good health and the ability to engage in teaching and research;
- High-level talents such as professors, associate professors, and assistant professors from domestic and foreign universities, and other high-level talents with equivalent academic qualifications are eligible to apply;
- Age requirements for applicants for outstanding talent: In principle, applicants in the fields of natural sciences and engineering and technology should not exceed 36 years of age, and those in the fields of humanities and social sciences should not exceed 40 years of age. For other job types, consideration can be given on a case-by-case basis.
Support Policies:
- Internationally competitive salary and benefits, sufficient research start-up funds, and platform construction funds;
- Assistance in building excellent research teams and establishing internationally aligned career development platforms;
- Relocation allowance and access to university apartments;

General Requirements:
- No criminal record;
- Age should generally be under 38;
- Good educational background and systematic scientific research training;
- Doctoral graduates and post-docs within the job-seeking period;
- Ability to engage in scientific research work;
- Applicants must meet corresponding performance criteria for the position.
Initial Appointment Professor Support Policies:
- A permanent position within the national public institution staffing system;
- Annual salary of 350,000 RMB (pre-tax);
- Provide relevant support policies for on-campus housing;
- Social security and housing provident fund paid by the university, approximately 60,000 RMB/year;
- Research start-up funds: 300,000 yuan for natural sciences, 150,000 yuan for humanities and social sciences.
Initial Appointment Associate Professor Support Policies:
- A permanent position within the national public institution staffing system;
- Annual salary of 250,000 RMB (pre-tax);
- Provide relevant support policies for on-campus housing;
- Social security and housing provident fund paid by the university, approximately 60,000 RMB/year;
- Research start-up funds: 200,000 RMB for natural sciences, 100,000 RMB for humanities and social sciences.
Assistant Professor Support Policies:
- A permanent position within the national public institution staffing system;
- Annual salary of 180,000 RMB (pre-tax);
- Provide relevant support policies for on-campus housing;
- Social security and housing provident fund paid by the university, approximately 60,000 RMB/year;
- Research start-up funds: 120,000 RMB for natural sciences, 60,000 RMB for humanities and social sciences.
(Ⅲ) Postdoctoral Researchers
Position Requirements:
- No Criminal Record;
- Age should generally be under 32;
- Good educational background and systematic scientific research training;
- Doctoral graduates within the job-seeking period;
- Good health and the ability to engage in teaching and research;
- Meet the specific academic and research requirements set by the host supervisor and research team.
Support Policies:
- Implement Level 9 professional and technical salary + research performance bonus + combined allocation of national and Henan Province project funding;
- Research performance: up to 200,000 RMB/year;
- National Postdoctoral Researcher Program funding: Category A 280,000 RMB/year, Category B 180,000 RMB/year, Category C 120,000 RMB/year;
- Special postdoctoral research project funds: 40,000 RMB for natural sciences, 20,000 RMB for humanities and social sciences;
- Collaborative supervisors and secondary employing units may provide additional performance rewards based on the workload of Qiushi postdoctoral researchers, which can be combined with university benefits;
- Provide postdoctoral apartments and related on-campus housing support policies;
- During their postdoctoral appointment, researchers are eligible to apply for professional title evaluation through Zhengzhou University and Henan Province.
