About this position

The Discipline of Health Promotion invites applications for a permanent, full-time, Type B Lecturer position. The successful candidate will contribute to the Discipline’s research and teaching activities, including programme coordination, curriculum development and postgraduate research supervision.

The Discipline of Health Promotion delivers and contributes to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across the College of Medicine and Health and the College of Science and Engineering. All academic staff within the Discipline are research active through an active programme of national and international research through the Health Promotion Research Centre, which is designated as a World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Health Promotion Research.

Candidates should hold a PhD in Health Promotion, Public Health, Epidemiology or a closely related field. The candidate should demonstrate a strong record of accomplishment in third-level teaching and relevant expertise in health promotion research. Candidates should also demonstrate experience in curriculum development and the capacity to contribute to academic leadership, programme coordination and postgraduate research supervision.

As a Type B academic appointment, candidates should demonstrate an active research profile appropriate to their career stage, including a record of high-quality research outputs and engagement in collaborative research. Evidence of experience in applying and/or securing research funding and developing national and/or international research collaborations will be important.

The successful candidate will contribute to teaching, programme coordination and curriculum development across programmes to which the Discipline contributes, with particular responsibilities in undergraduate medical and social care education and postgraduate Health Promotion programmes, including micro-credential programmes.

The successful candidate will also be expected to develop and sustain an active programme of research aligned with the strategic priorities of the Discipline of Health Promotion and the Health Promotion Research Centre. This will include producing high-quality research outputs, contributing to external research funding activity, developing collaborative research at national and/or international levels, and supervising postgraduate and doctorate research students.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the wider academic and collegial activities of the Discipline, School, College and University, as appropriate.
