About this position

Within the Department of Criminal Law and Criminology of the Faculty of Law and Criminology, the Leuven Institute of Criminology (LINC) has, since 1 January 2007, brought together approximately seventy professors, teaching assistants, and affiliated researchers involved in criminological research and education.

Project

  • You will provide educational and research support within both the Administrative and Criminal Law Enforcement in a European and Comparative Perspective and the Criminological Assessment and Behavioural Interventions research groups.
  • You will prepare a PhD dissertation in the field of criminological psychology or legal psychology on a topic to be determined in mutual agreement and aligned with the research agenda of the abovementioned research groups.
  • You will supervise master's theses and support teaching activities for the following courses: Criminological Psychology, Legal Psychology, and Person-Centered Methods of Criminological Intervention.
  • You will contribute to the development of research-based teaching.
  • You will assist with student assessment, including examination supervision and exam processing.

Profile

  • You hold a Master's degree in Criminological Sciences.
  • Or you hold a Master's degree in Psychology, provided that you can demonstrate knowledge of the criminological domain and have a strong affinity with law enforcement practice.
  • Or you hold a Master's degree in Law, provided that you can demonstrate knowledge of the criminological domain and possess the required empirical methodological knowledge and research skills.
  • You have knowledge of the organisation, functioning, and competencies of the police and justice system in Belgium.
  • You are familiar with research methods.
  • You are capable of conducting research under supervision with a view to obtaining a doctoral degree.
  • You have strong organisational skills and work accurately and efficiently.
  • You are motivated by autonomy and responsibility and are committed to delivering high-quality work.
  • You can perform effectively under pressure.
  • You are a collegial and communicative team player who shows initiative.
  • You show strong teaching skills.

Offer

  • We offer a full-time fixed-term appointment for 2 years, renewable twice for an additional 2 years each time (maximum duration of 6 years).
  • The position is remunerated according to salary scale 43.
  • You will join a young and dynamic team.
