About this position

Job description

Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) encompasses a group of neurodegenerative diseases that progressively affect behavior, movement, personality and/or language. We aim to identify the molecular and cellular causes of FTD that trigger its onset and early progression with the aim to design evidence-based treatment.

We are looking for a highly motivated researcher to join our team. You will design and execute proteomics studies on human brain tissue of sporadic patients and human iPSC-derived neurons. The aim is to understand the molecular and cellular dysfunctions that lead to cell-type-specific vulnerability that may be causative to FTD through highly innovative single-cell and spatial (prote)-omics technologies.

Would you like to know more about the different phases within the PhD trajectory? You can read more about this on this page.

As a member of our team, you will:
  • design and execute proteomics studies to identify cell-type specific vulnerability;
  • perform experiments in human postmortem FTD brain tissue and patient iPSC-derived neuronal cell cultures;
  • aid in data analysis and integration of -omics datasets to characterize cell-specific functional dysregulation and cellular crosstalk;
  • contribute to scientific reporting, publications, and regulatory-ready data packages;
  • supervise undergraduate students;
  • report on your findings in regular work meetings, conferences, and scientific publications in reputable journals.
