About this position

The Department of Psychology and Human Development brings together staff with research and teaching interests that encompass psychological approaches to learning, development and teaching from early childhood to adulthood.

We will be looking for a researcher with a strong track record in research synthesis and special educational needs, to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis on targeted interventions that can raise non-academic outcomes for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This project is funded by the Nuffield Foundation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the research, including the pre-registration, the searching of the literature, the selection and data extraction and the synthesis of the research, including both a systematic review and meta-analyses. They would also coordinate dissemination activities: including overseeing the updating of the MetaSENse database as well as write up a project report and academic papers.

Please note the appointment is funded from 1st Oct 2026 to 31st March 2028 in the first instance.

You will have a PhD (completed or near completion) in Education or Psychology, experience of writing research reports and/or relevant peer-reviewed academic publications and an in-depth understanding of special educational needs.
