About this position
We are looking to explore the evolution of the carbon cycle over geologic time using Raman Spectroscopy as the primary tool. Work will entail detailed Raman analysis of carbon particles in ancient sedimentary rocks as well as the analysis of modern marine and river sediments. Raman spectroscopy allows us to determine the quantities and thermal maturities of recycled “petrographic” carbon in modern sediments and ancient sedimentary rocks.
The successful applicant will have a solid geological background, preferably in Precambrian geology and track record of using Raman spectroscopy to analyze ancient carbon in rocks. A background in stratigraphy would also be beneficial. We have in house a Horiba LabRAM Soleil Raman Spectrometer.
The successful candidate will be a part of a Villum Foundation founded Investigator grant and the successful candidate will be part of the Nordcee group at the Department of Biology.
It is a 2.5-year appointment starting around October 2026.
We recommend that as an international applicant, you take the time to visit Work in Denmark where you will find information and facts about moving to, working and living in Denmark, as well as the International Staff Office at SDU.
Application deadline: 31 August 2026 at 23:59 hours local Danish time
