About this position

We are looking for an experienced Postdoctoral researcher with expertise in mouse models (preferably orthotopic pancreatic cancer models) to join our team at MedAustron (Wiener Neustadt, Austria), in collaboration with groups at DKFZ in Heidelberg. This Postdoc project will tackle how X-ray versus carbon ion irradiation reshapes tumour immunity via endogenous retroviruses and extracellular vesicles.

We are an interdisciplinary team of biologists and biotechnologists in the non-clinical research unit of the Medical University of Vienna at MedAustron. We are keen on harnessing particle radiation to devise new treatment strategies for cancer: www.sladelab.org.

Experience with mouse work is essential. Please only apply if you meet this requirement. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in pancreatic cancer mouse models. Experience in radiobiology, immunology and extracellular vesicles is a plus. Excellent organizational and communication skills are very important, as well as a good command of the English language. We are looking for a team player with willingness to collaborate and share the expertise.

The position is for 2 years with the possibility of an extension. The position is available from March 1st 2027.

Please send your CV with a detailed description of work experience, motivation letter and contact information of at least two references to dea.slade@meduniwien.ac.at. Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis.
