About this position

Jack and Dana McCallum Family Foundation Fellowship

The College of Sciences at the Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for the Jack and Dana McCallum Family Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship in Central Nervous Systems Research. This program supports outstanding early-career researchers pursuing clinically relevant neuroscience and aims to develop competitive candidates for tenure-track faculty positions.

The fellowship provides independent salary support and research funding, enabling fellows to establish an emerging research program while working closely with a primary faculty mentor at the Georgia Tech College of Sciences and collaborators at Emory University School of Medicine. Projects that strengthen translational and collaborative research across institutions are especially encouraged.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct innovative, clinically relevant research in neuroscience, neural engineering or neurorehabilitation.
  • Develop an independent research program aligned with long-term academic goals
  • Prepare and submit grant and fellowship applications (e.g., NIH)
  • Publish research findings and support trainee publications
  • Co-mentor graduate students and contribute to a collaborative research environment

Qualifications

  • PhD in neuroscience or a related discipline (by start date)
  • Strong record of research productivity (publications, presentations, or proposals)
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Interest in mentoring and interdisciplinary research
  • Preference for candidates with clinically relevant CNS research experience

  • 12-month appointment, renewable up to three years
  • Annual Salary: $70,000 plus benefits
  • Research stipend: $40,000
  • Effective date of employment is flexible and immediately available
  • Full-time position (40 hours/week) based in Atlanta, GA, USA
