Postdoctoral Research Fellow Position

Immunometabolism, Genome maintenance and Radiobiology

The Zhang Laboratory seeks to understand the biological mechanisms that determine radiation response and resistance. Our research integrates cancer biology, metabolism, DNA damage response, immunology, and functional genomics to identify new therapeutic vulnerabilities that can improve the effectiveness of radiation therapy while minimizing normal tissue toxicity. Current projects in the laboratory include:

• Cancer metabolism and DNA damage response
  • Investigating how mitochondrial metabolism regulates chromatin, replication stress, and DNA repair to influence radiation sensitivity.
• Radiation and cancer immunology
  • Understanding how radiation remodels the tumor immune microenvironment and developing novel radiation-immunotherapy combinations.
• Radiation-induced normal tissue injury and regeneration
  • Defining mechanisms of tissue injury and repair following radiation to improve the therapeutic ratio.
• Functional genomics and translational cancer biology
  • Applying genome-wide CRISPR screening, single-cell genomics, spatial transcriptomics, and clinically relevant mouse models to discover new therapeutic targets.

As a physician-scientist laboratory embedded within a leading academic medical center, we combine mechanistic biology with clinically relevant questions to bridge discoveries from the laboratory to patient care. Who We Are | Zhang (Faith) Lab | UT Southwestern, Dallas, Texas

We are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral fellows or research scientist who are excited to pursue fundamental biological questions with strong translational potential. Experience in one or more of the following areas is desirable but not required: Cancer biology, DNA damage response, Cancer metabolism, CRISPR screening, high throughput drug screen, Mouse models, Single-cell genomics and Bioinformatics.
