About this position

The person recruited will be tasked with leading part of the ANR PROSPERA project aimed at better understanding how autistic adults learn the statistical regularities of their environment, a fundamental mechanism likely to explain key symptoms of autism.The candidate will conduct an EEG (neural frequency tagging) experiment in neurotypical and autistic adults to assess statistical learning in visual and auditory modalities, as well as a series of online behavioral experiments to test preference for predictability and cognitive flexibility. The EEG study will be replicated in autistic adults with limited cognitive abilities. The postdoctoral researcher may be required to co-supervise students

  • Recruiting participants and planning experiments Acquisition and analysis of EEG data Acquisition and analysis of behavioral data Writing scientific articles and communicating across various media

Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of cognitive neuroscience and neurophysiology
  • Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders
  • Knowledge of statistical learning and predictive coding
  • Good understanding of experimental methodology
  • Knowledge of EEG methods
  • Technical expertise
  • Experience in EEG data acquisition and analysis, particularly neural frequency tagging / fast periodic visual stimulation (FPVS)
  • Proficiency in programming and statistical analysis tools, such as Presentation, MATLAB, Python, or R
  • Experience programming online behavioral experiments using platforms such as Gorilla or Prolific
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and present EEG and behavioral data
  • Ability to write scientific papers in English for international peer-reviewed journals
  • Skills
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and self-management skills
  • Strong scientific rigor and commitment to open science practices
  • High level of ethical awareness, particularly when working with participants with specific needs
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Fluency in written and spoken French and English
  • Desired experience
  • Hands-on experience with EEG data acquisition and analysis, particularly neural frequency tagging / FPVS
  • Previous experience working with autistic participants and acquiring research data from autistic individuals
  • Education and training
  • PhD (Bac +8) in cognitive neuroscience, experimental psychology, or a related field
  • Equivalent doctoral-level training in a relevant scientific discipline may also be considered
