In the Department of Economics and Media Science in the Marketing Group at the Technische Universität Ilmenau (Germany) is a vacancy for a

to promote their own academic qualifications within the meaning of Section 2 (1) of the German Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz) as soon as possible.

The Marketing Department team is committed to conducting internationally relevant and high-profile research as well as providing high-quality instruction to students from Germany and abroad. The main areas of focus in our department’s research and teaching include, above all, services marketing as well as industrial and technology marketing. Ongoing collaboration with external partners—in the spirit of active knowledge transfer—is a matter of course for us.

Your tasks

The position includes the following responsibilities:

• Creating conditions for successfully working on one's own dissertation project,
• Participating in research projects and publication of the group
• Teaching, in particular exercises and seminars, as well as supervising and evaluating student assignments and theses,
• Participation in examinations (pre-grading written exams, serving as a co-examiner for oral exams)
• Supporting the department’s administrative tasks.

Your profile

For being part of the selection process is needed:

• A very strong degree in economics or a related field (Master’s/Dipl. (Univ.)), ideally with a focus on marketing,
• Very strong English language skills (minimum proven B2 level) and basic knowledge of German (minimum proven B1 level)

Following competences are desirable:

• An interest in business research topics and the ability to conduct scholarly work (e.g., through a thesis or even initial publications of one’s own),
• • The ability to work independently and responsibly in research and teaching, as well as the capacity for scholarly work with the goal of earning a doctorate,
• • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact confidently with others,
• Knowledge and experience in empirical social research.

In principle, the job is also suitable for part-time employment. The extent to which a part-time request can be granted, in particular with regard to the location and extent of part-time work, will be examined on the basis of the needs of the service.
