Your personal sphere of play:
The Institute for Statistics and Operations Research of the University of Vienna is looking for a postdoctoral researcher to participate in the department's research, teaching (to the extent regulated by the collective bargaining agreement), and administrative activities. In particular, the candidate is expected to participate in research projects leading to international publications and presentations. The position is limited to 4 years and, in particular, is intended to contribute to collaborative research activities within the Data Science @ University of Vienna research platform. Your future tasks:
Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means:
- You build up an independent research profile in the field of mathematical statistics.
- You publish internationally and give lectures.
- You apply for projects and raise third-party funds.
- You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
- You supervise your students in various courses.
- You participate in evaluation measures and in quality assurance.
- You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.
This is part of your personality:
- Completed doctorate/PhD degree in statistics, mathematics, or a closely related discipline (completed or about to be completed)
- A strong background in mathematical statistics and probability theory
- Outstanding dissertation, reflected in the excellent evaluation and/or exemplary examiners’ reports
- Promising potential for original high-level research, evident from publications in renowned, subject-relevant media (peer-reviewed)
- Experience in research management and in leading project staff is an advantage
- Didactic skills/experience in e-learning
- Knowledge of university processes and structures is desirable
- Excellent knowledge of English (C1)
- International experience is desirable
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as indicated by strong letters of recommendation.
