Your personal sphere of play:
Your future position is at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences / Division of Pharmacognosy in the team of Prof. Judith Rollinger.
It is characterized by excellent research in "Phytochemistry & Biodiscovery" focusing on the targeted identification and isolation of novel natural hit/lead structures for drug discovery.
The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences is part of the Faculty of Life Sciences, where academic staff and students appreciate the high diversity of interconnected research disciplines, the vivid exchange between colleagues and the involvement of (under)graduate students for education and research.
Your future tasks:
Active participation in research, teaching and administration, which means:
- You build up an independent research profile in the broad field of pharmacognosy/phytochemistry (e.g. analytics, chromatography, isolation and characterization of natural compounds from various sources, bioactivity tracking using omics-approaches and chemoinformatics, bioactivity testing).
- You are involved in research projects and scientific studies dedicated to the well-being of humans (e.g. in the areas of infection, inflammation and metabolic syndrome).
- You publish internationally and give lectures.
- You apply for projects and raise third-party funds.
- You (co)supervise Pharmacy students (bachelor/master/PhDs).
- You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.
- You take over teaching activities in undergraduate courses in the BSc/MSc curriculum in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
This is part of your personality:
- Completed doctoral/PhD studies in Pharmacognosy/Pharmaceutical Biology, Natural Product Chemistry or a similar field.
- Outstanding dissertation
- Research competence proven through international publications in high-ranked, peer-reviewed journals (mainly as first author).
- Experience in research management.
- Didactic skills.
- IT skills and knowledge in big data-analytics.
- Knowledge of chromatography, instrumental analysis and the structural elucidation of natural products using modern spectroscopic, spectrometric and phytochemical methods is required.
- Experience in chemoinformatics/chemometrics/metabolomics for drug discovery is a significant advantage.
- Team player and high social/communicative skills
- Excellent command of English (and, ideally, German).
