About this position

Location: Charing Cross Hospital

About the role:

We are looking to recruit a skilled, reliable, and enthusiastic Research Associate who will be funded by Macmillan Cancer Care to work on the analysis of data from the INDIGO research trial (NCT06095024)). INDIGO is the largest ever study of cancer survivors and has recruited 70 000 patients nationally.

This work will build on our initial work and analysis and provide the opportunity to apply cutting-edge computational tools to a large, real-world clinical dataset. The aim is to both deliver analyses and use those analyses to inform the development of simple interventions with the scope to improve the quality of life for cancer survivors at scale across the UK.

What you would be doing:

The postholder will carry out work based around the analysis, interpretation and publication of multiple cohorts from the INDIGO dataset, and to develop new methods for clustering and analysing free-text data, including linked national cancer data.

They will also be involved in using that information to plan the next phase of trials, including working with other staff in the group.

What we are looking for:

You should hold a PhD in Data Science or a related discipline, with strong and significant experience of analysing tabular clinical data. You should have a good knowledge of common statistical approaches and software packages and be willing to explore novel and developing approaches to deliver more refined insights into the data.

You must be organised, highly self-motivated, have excellent communication skills and relish working towards milestones.

What we can offer you:

The Division of Cancer at Imperial College London offers a dynamic and supportive environment for new Research Associates, providing opportunities to engage in cutting-edge research. The Computational Oncology Group is a translational research group that uses computational and mathematical approaches to improve patient care. We have a strong track-record in clinical implementation, and this project offers the opportunity to continue this.

New Research Associates will benefit from access to state-of-the-art facilities and the chance to collaborate with leading academics, clinicians, and commercial partners. This vibrant research community is dedicated to advancing cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment through multidisciplinary collaborations, fostering an outstanding environment for both academic growth and impactful research contributions.
