About this position

Are you a Star Talent? Open postdoc positions at the Faculty of Medicine, Aalborg University, Denmark

The Faculty of Medicine at Aalborg University (AAU) is offering several prestigious 3-year postdoctoral positions starting 1 January 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter. These positions are explicitly aimed at outstanding early-career researchers with exceptional scientific potential and the ambition to lead independent, high-impact research. Applicants must hold a PhD from a university other than AAU.

The programme is designed as a talent initiative and selection is based solely on scientific merit and demonstrated strengths in research management, funding, dissemination, and collaboration. Successful candidates are expected to propose and drive a novel, ambitious 3-year research project aligned with the faculty’s research priorities and embedded within one of its research groups.

The Faculty of Medicine (www.medicine.aau.dk) conducts research from basic to clinical and translational science, with a strong emphasis on digital health and interdisciplinary collaboration between health professionals and engineers. The two departments – Dept of Health Science and Technology, and Dept of Clinical Medicine - cover areas such as biomedical science, clinical research, epidemiology, and health data science.

As a postdoctoral researcher, you will lead your own project, publish in international journals, participate in conferences, contribute to teaching and supervision, disseminate research to broader audiences, and actively engage in a collaborative research environment. A key expectation is also the ability to attract external funding.

The Faculty offers a highly supportive and inclusive research environment, with strong emphasis on collaboration, academic exchange, and professional development. Importantly, the positions come with very attractive employment conditions, including:

  • A competitive salary and Danish health insurance
  • Dedicated start-up funding for research costs
  • Travel funding for international conferences
  • Computer and other practical office necessities
  • Support with relocation to Aalborg, Denmark, a growing, exciting, and centrally located European city

These elements ensure that selected candidates have excellent conditions to establish themselves as independent researchers and to produce internationally competitive research.

Applicants must demonstrate strong analytical and collaborative skills, excellent communication abilities, and high proficiency in English.

Please find the full call text via the 'Apply' button above.

Applications must include a motivation letter (max 500 words), project proposal (max 1,000 words), CV, diplomas, publication list, and references.

Application deadline: 1 September 2027.
