Position overview

The ANU College of Law, Governance and Public Policy (CLGP) is a progressive and newly established College that brings together four world-leading academic schools dedicated to shaping the future of law, governance, regulation, policy and population health. As part of Australia’s leading university, the College fosters excellence in research, teaching, and engagement, driving impactful contributions to national and global challenges. The College provides an intellectually rich community, committed to providing a collaborative and supportive environment for academics, students, and professionals to thrive.

These positions are fixed-term for three years and funded by a National Critical Research Infrastructure grant. Two research positions are available at level A or B. The two positions are in the areas of law, ethics, public understanding of science, science communication and deliberation. One position will be more focussed on the legal and regulatory aspects of various models of consent and the other will be more focussed on community engagement and co-design, user-friendly implementation, and evaluation of deliberative processes.

The overarching outcome of the project is a more transparent, trustworthy and defensible process for institutions and researchers seeking to use cell lines that sit outside the original donor consent (for historical samples), and an ethical, sustainable and practical system for managing consent processes for prospective stem cell lines. Specific outcomes from these two positions include successful delivery of stakeholder consultations, surveys and targeted deliberative forums; academic publications; and policy recommendations.

Some positions — especially in Germany, Austria and Switzerland — are filled by writing directly to the supervisor rather than through an online form. These addresses were taken from the advert text, so check them against the official listing before you write.

A cold email to a supervisor is the highest-leverage thing you can send — and the easiest to get wrong. Ask us to look at yours before you hit send.
