At the Institute of Mechatronics and Power Electronics, in the Research Unit of Power Electronic Systems TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant (prae-doc) limited to expected 4 years for 30 hours/week (an extension to a full-time position (40 hours/week) from third-party funds of the Institute is possible). Expected start: August 2026.

Tasks:

  • Research on the experimental and model-based analysis of traction converter control
  • Assistance with teaching duties and exams
  • Supervision of students
  • Participation in research projects and industry collaborations
  • Preparation of a dissertation and high-quality publications
  • Participation in academic events
  • Assistance with organizational and administrative tasks

Your profile:

  • Completion of a relevant master’s or diploma program in electrical engineering
  • Konwledge in Artificial Intelligence and Python is preferred
  • Knowledge of power electronics with a focus on hardware, electric drives, or control engineering is preferred
  • Experience in power electronics circuit design and simulation, as well as electric drives, is preferred
  • Excellent German (B2) and English language skills (B2)
  • Experience with scientific research
  • Interest in research in applied power electronics and in working with students
  • Ability to work in a team, problem-solving skills, and innovative thinking.

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 2,832.10/month gross, 14 times/year for 30 hours/week.
